Grades show a small, narrow picture of the whole. Behind them, there are students very good at learning information by heart the night before the test, and forgetting them right after, as well as the students spending weeks on the consistent exploration of complex concepts.
Exactly!! I grew up in the Czech Republic and the system you describe is basically the same. And we ALSO had a Chemistry teacher who was very strict, mean to everyone and caused all the students so much unnecessary stress. I was lucky because I never enjoyed Chemistry much.
The educational system seriously needs to change, especially in this part of Europe. I love your article!
