I'm studying Comparative Literature and I feel very similarly. I related to most of what you've written.

Often, writing an essay on something just feels like rephrasing the same thing all over again and drawing paralels between books that don't have much in common.

There are fun parts to it, of course. Some books are brilliant. Others boring. It's definitely very different from the actual real-life reading experience.
